Royston Delivers Engine Service Work Whilst Vessel in Transit
A rapid turnaround was required on an overhaul of a Wartsila 8R32LNE diesel generator engine on-board a cable laying vessel whilst sailing between ports in UK waters.
Scope of Work
Drawing on Royston’s extensive capabilities and resources, a team of engineers boarded the vessel in Northumberland and commenced strip down of the engine. Repairs and replacement of parts, where necessary, to the bearings, pistons, liners, connecting rods and cylinder heads were completed and the units were reassembled and tested for operational performance.
Liners were cleaned, inspected and lapped while the lube oil pump and high and low temperature pumps were also fully serviced. Following completion of the works, pressure and incremental load tests inline with the engine manufacturers specification were finalised.
Result
The work was completed on time and to the clients satisfaction.
The team went above and beyond to ensure the work was completed on time without disruption to the vessels operations.
